    Hi jeanie !

    My name is Garry Lee Taylor and I was personal bodyguard and head of security for Orion in Sweden and have worked with him both here and in the USA. (I guess i was a mixture or Red West & Charlie Hodge for Orion :)

    I was also MD for the Orion shows we did together, and I arranged and worked on the 2 Orion/ Ellis videos released from sweden in the 90s.

    Many if not all of the youtube clips from Sweden of Orion were made from my personal recordings. I guess from copies that i gave to my manager at the time.
    Orion/Jimmy was a good friend and we spent a lot of fun times together.

    A number of people have now told me that i should get in touch with you regarding your documentary or Orion.

    Allen here. I have alot of video & audio cassettes also 100’s of snapshots no way to copy my videos but wish someone could come see what I have as I have a few things not yet on youtube. Keep up the great work you are doing.

Synopsis

ORION: THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING is a feature documentary that tells the story of Jimmy Ellis, an unknown singer plucked from obscurity in 1978, given a fictional identity, signed to Sun Records and thrust into the spotlight as part of a crazy scheme that had him masquerade as Elvis back from the grave.

The mask, coupled with his incredible voice – a dead-ringer for Presley’s - brought him the success he’d always craved and the adoration of screaming masses, until the pressure of living a lie became too much and he ripped off the mask, live on-stage. With the gimmick destroyed, Ellis was plunged again into obscurity he spent the rest of his life on the fruitless search for success on his own terms. Eventually he died in a tragic small-town killing, unknown, beyond a handful of devoted fans. A terrible coda to the American dream gone horribly wrong.

The story of Orion proves that fact is indeed ‘stranger than fiction’. This is the story behind that story. Who was that masked man?
