ORION: THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING is a feature documentary that tells the story of Jimmy Ellis, an unknown singer plucked from obscurity in 1978, given a fictional identity, signed to Sun Records and thrust into the spotlight as part of a crazy scheme that had him masquerade as Elvis back from the grave.

The mask, coupled with his incredible voice – a dead-ringer for Presley’s - brought him the success he’d always craved and the adoration of screaming masses, until the pressure of living a lie became too much and he ripped off the mask, live on-stage. With the gimmick destroyed, Ellis was plunged again into obscurity he spent the rest of his life on the fruitless search for success on his own terms. Eventually he died in a tragic small-town killing, unknown, beyond a handful of devoted fans. A terrible coda to the American dream gone horribly wrong.
